A simple war.

I plummet into infested ground,
My beloved city is evil-bound.

Blood spews from the massive gash in my side,
Along with my blood gushes my warrior's pride.

The dismal color of death permeates the sky,
I wish to spread my wings and fly.

The war has turned into a slaughtering bloodbath,
Evil minions exploit their true wrath.

Bursting stars swirl in my eyes,
I hear lethal arrows whizzing by.

The ground has turned to thick mud,
I lie in a pool of my own warm blood.

Swirling colors blot my obscured vision,
I have failed my life-long mission.

Darkness surges through the gate,
Alas, crucial reinforcements are too late.

The world's eternal light flickers and dies,
I close my blood-coated eyes.

The surrender cries from the town bells,
Forlorn warriors susurrate their last farewells
